On Wednesday, May 3, 2017 Salem Home welcomed about 125 volunteers and their guests to its annual Volunteer Appreciation Evening. The theme of the Appreciation Event was “Do Small Things With Great Love.” That is what the volunteers at Salem Home do, they come and share their gifts, talents and time with the residents and staff and they do this with great love. We celebrated together with wonderful music by “The Friesen Family,” greetings from Sherry Janzen (CEO of Salem Home) and Arlen Hildebrand (Chairman of the Salem Foundation Board), door prizes from many generous community sponsors and wonderful cookies made by Rise N’ Roll Bakery.
Salem Home has 208 registered volunteers and together they volunteered 8,281.50 hours last year. The seven volunteers who spent the most time at Salem Home over the past year had a combined volunteer time of 1,330. I want to say another thank you to all the dedicated and faithful volunteers of Salem Home who give so freely of their time and talents. You all truly help give the residents a positive lived experience each and every day!
Alana Thiessen, Salem Home Volunteer Coordinator
