May 20, 2020 – Visitation Update:
Plans are currently in development to allow limited, outdoor visits for essential visitors at Salem Home. Salem Home will contact families directly as to the details of the visitation plan. Each visitation will need to be booked in advance. All visitors are subject to enhanced screening upon arrival along with hand hygiene and physical distancing. A maximum of two visitors will be allowed to visit and no minors at this time. Indoor visits remain suspended except for end-of life circumstances.
At this time, we ask that you do not call Salem Home for details or to book visitation time, especially in the evenings. If you have any questions please contact the RCMs. In the meantime, we will continue to offer FaceTime and Skype calls as well as opportunities to visit at the Phone booth. This is not a return to normal but does provide a balance between ensuring the health of residents while retaining access to social connections.”

Dear Families and Visitors,
Thank you once again for allowing us to keep your loved ones safe. We receive information and guidelines
about what to do that is changing almost daily, so I would again like to provide you with some updates from
We are grateful to hear that some restrictions are being lifted in the province. However, we wanted to inform
you that our visiting restrictions are still in place. Due to our population being highest risk, we suspect that it
may be some time before outside visitors will again be allowed into any personal care home.
Please pass this along to your family members and friends who may wish to visit, so we do not tie down the
phone lines with these questions or have line ups outside the door.
We will let you know when you can visit again as soon as we know.
We are also assessing the possibility of having hairdressing services from Salem’s hairdressers return for haircuts
only. This would not include sets, perms or colour. We would ensure proper screening and the use of Personal
Protective Equipment while providing this service. We would also follow the one-site regulations as set out in
the Public Health Order released earlier this week.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
