Letters sent to Families on November 17, 2020
We have become aware that another staff member at Salem Home on Maple North and Maple South care areas, has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was working just prior to becoming symptomatic. According to Manitoba Health’s definition of outbreak, this means that we are now truly in an outbreak. At this time, we are tracing the staff member’s contacts, and those residents who were in contact with the person will be monitored for symptoms. If your family member is being tested, you will be contacted directly.
We know this is unsettling news for both our residents and their families. As in the letter of November 10, 2020, Salem Home is now under the guidance of the province’s Chief Public Health Officer. All additional precautions have been implemented in accordance with the directions provided to those already in place to prevent any further spread of illness. Above all, the care staff are continuing to work hard to ensure your loved one’s well-being and care.
The designated family caregivers will continue to be allowed in the facility as before. We know you are concerned about your loved one. At this time, our priority is the care of our residents. The primary contact will be kept informed about your loved one’s condition. Should you have questions please call the Resident Care Manager where your loved one lives.
