Letter sent to Family on December 4, 2020
We have become aware that a resident in Salem Home on Maple North Care Area has tested positive for COVID-19. All residents in that area are being monitored by staff. If your family member is being tested, you will be contacted directly.
This is unsettling and disconcerting news for both our residents and you, their family. Salem Home is now following the directions from the province’s Chief Public Health Officer. Full outbreak precautions are in the process of being implemented.
Each Care Area/Department is working through their part of the Pandemic Response Plan. For families wanting to receive updates on their resident, please contact Salem Home during the hours of 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. You will be directed to someone who will give you an update. We ask that you please respect the staff’s time and refrain from calling the Care Area directly as the nurses and staff are now providing care at a different level. The care of our residents is our first priority. Should you call the Care Area directly, the call may not be answered or you may be directed to call during the specified hours above.
Designated Caregivers continue to visit their loved one. If you have not participated in the PPE education sessions, I encourage you to book in a time slot as there are now more PPE requirements when entering the Care Areas.
We know you share our concern about your loved one. Be assured staff and leadership are doing everything we can to mitigate the risks associated with having the virus in the facility.
Should you have concerns about your own health, please contact Health Links-Info Santé at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257.
