Work - Life - Celebrate

When you are a part of Salem Home, it's not just about work. . . . .

It's about being  part of a team who provides excellent care to the residents who live at Salem Home, and it's also about being part of an environment that takes time to celebrate the ordinary and extra ordinary moments in time.

Throughout the year, there are many ways we celebrate staff -

  • Each neighbourhood staff takes time to recognize birthdays, babies, engagements, marriages, retirements, or other important events in their lives.
  • Service Pin Awards recognize the number of years of service an employee has given to Salem Home and it's residents.  These awards occur three times a year.
  • The Governing Board sponsors an annual thank you lunch for all employees
  • As part of the Christmas celebrations, the Governing Board presents Long Term Service Awards and cash to staff who have been here ten years or longer.  These awards are based on actual hours worked.
  • A Fall Barbeque to say thank you to all staff for their assistance in making it through the summer.
  • The Sneaker Club encourages active participation in physical activity.  Each participating employee receives recognition, and everyone has the opportunity to work towards super prizes.
  • The staff's Social Committee organizes two major events a year - a Christmas event for staff and a guest, and a Family Picnic in June.  This is a special way for staff to get to know each other outside of work, have a great meal outdoors, and have loads of fun.
  • And sometimes we have a party just because -
