Kerry Brandt - Family Member
Kerry Brandt was very worried about moving his mother to a different personal care home. At 74, she had advanced Alzheimer’s and needed to transfer to Salem Home’s Special Care Unit for observation.
“We were quite nervous about the move, wondering how she would react. But ever since she got here she has just been very calm and relaxed . It felt like she’d found her place here.”
After a few months, the RNs in the SCU had done their work. They found that comfort zone to help the Kerry's mother adjust to her condition. She was taken off observation status. “It was supposed to be short term but we were so absolutely impressed that, we asked, ‘If there’s ANYTHING we could do to have her stay here… she’s just been very at ease,” Kerry said. She was moved to Evergreen, the Alzheimer's/Dementia Unit.
After 15 months, Kerry’s confidence in Salem Home has grown even further. He feels the competence of the management, the faith-based care, and the staff in the Alzheimer’s unit are all key factors. “The staff at Salem Home has all the latest tools available to them ato help my Mother deal with Alzheimer's. She is very well taken care of!"
