Our Life Program's goal is to enrich the daily lives of our residents. Check out some of the fun things going on at Salem Home.
One of life's creature comforts - food. Our team of cooks, dieticians and cookie baking volunteers work hard to make sure everyone is eating healthy and happy.

Values
Values are what make Salem Home a truly unique place.
Our Values are a set of guidelines that help our organization focus on a shared goal and live out our mission and vision. These values, along with their Core Behaviours, create an atmosphere that provides the best possible care for Salem Home residents.
As a part of the Strategic Plan, our Values were defined by board and staff as they relate to the residents/staff:
Compassion
- Provide residents and staff members with a sense of belonging
- Take time to understand and meet the resident and employee’s needs
- Support the emotional, spiritual, and physical well being of residents and staff
- Respect residents and staff members regardless of cultural heritage
Dignity
- Provide person centred care, believing that each resident and staff member is a unique expression of God’s creative genius
- Honour the right of privacy of residents, staff members, and the organization
- Practice the Golden Rule (Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Matthew 7:12) with those we care for, work with, and meet
Excellence
- Continually work together to improve how we provide care and services
- Insure care and service excellence using evidence-based and promising practices
- Adhere to a high standard of moral conduct, and dealing with people honestly
- Assure results and accountability for wise and cost effective use of resources
- Promote learning through training and development of staff members
Faith
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships as an expression of our faith to create community
- Our faith provides the framework which guides our decision making
- Nurture and support residents and staff members to live the Fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control)
- Foster an environment which encourages and supports the spiritual growth of residents and staff members
